Chapter of Initiation: Epsilon Kappa Date of Initiation and Date of Graduation/Anticipated Date of Graduation (MM/YY): 08/20 and 05/23 Relevant Kappa Psi Experience: 2021-22 Epsilon Kappa Vice Regent, 2020-21 Epsilon Kappa Philanthropy Chair Kappa Psi events attended in the last 3 years: 2020-21 Kappa Psi Leadership Academy If elected, what are your plans for that office? I plan to help increase communication of chapter events through social media (primarily instagram). I would reshare photos from chapter events as they happen throughout the year. Also try to increase engagement on our social media platforms by using polls/quizzes. Why did you decide to run for province office and why are you the best brother for the office? I decided to run for Gulf Coast Historian because I felt there was a need to increase awareness of chapter happenings in our province. I think that can be done via social media. I previously ran the social media account for our APhA/ASHP umbrella organization at Belmont University during the 2020-21 academic year. During that year our university due to COVID-19 did not allow any student organizations to have in-person meetings/events. Because of this change, there was a huge shift to social media campaigns. I created several campaigns and also in charge of posting other people's campaigns at the proper time. Also due to not being in-person, our membership drive relied heavily on social media recruitment which I was a part of making sure the incoming pharmacy class knew what our organization was and when meetings were. What goals and objectives do you envision yourself accomplishing as Historian over the next year? I would like to continue having a GCP newsletter every month or every 3 months to help chapters stay in contact with each other. We started having a newsletter at Epsilon Kappa this year and it has been very helpful with communication. Continue sharing events on social media pages. Making sure all chapters are posting according to social media policies. Also work on getting the website updated with new information. What is something new you would like to accomplish as Historian over the next year? I would like to highlight all GCP positions on Instagram that way everyone can match a face to the name. Also create highlight reels for each chapter that way its an easy way to keep up to date on what each chapter is doing for brothers. If your position oversees a committee(s), how will you incorporate members of your committee throughout the year? As Historian I would oversee the Publication Committee. In order to keep the website, social media pages, and MASK submissions, it would be important to designate members to make sure we are on track to meet deadlines for each item. Then it is always helpful to have multiple people to bounce creative ideas off of for the various items. What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment as a Brother of Kappa Psi? My greatest accomplishment as a Brother of Kappa Psi was organizing a Virtual 5K for Reach Out and Read at my chapter with support from the Leadership Academy. I had a total of 38 brothers participate from over 5 different chapters. We were able to raise around $920 for Reach Out and Read from the event! |
